Physiotherapy on Arm.

Treatment sessions will review the exercises you have been given, modify or progress them on to new exercises. In most circumstances your therapist will teach you how to perform the exercises, however some more difficult exercises and stretches may require the presence of a carer or family member to help you.

Your therapist will guide you through ways of managing your symptoms, set you exercises and handle/move you in a therapeutic way to re-educate normal movement.

Around one third of the treatment time will involve discussing what you have been practising as well as reviewing progress and setting new goals. Clients are encouraged to ask questions about their condition and about the best way of managing it.

Self-management

Exercise plays a crucial role in helping you to recover and make progress. Clients need to practice exercises they have been set at least twice daily, unless otherwise stated by your therapist. Your therapist will check and review each of your exercises to make sure you are doing them correctly and to progress them if they are getting too easy.

Duration of Treatment

Some Neurological Conditions require ongoing treatment, however many only require short intensive bursts of therapy. Your therapist will be happy to discuss what intervention you require and what your needs are. How long your therapy lasts depends upon the nature of your condition and the goals you are working to achieve.

"I had a major stroke at the end  of 2016 which left me paralysed down my left side. After physio by NHS was unsuccessful I was recommended to Daniel and after some months of treatment I am nearly able to sit unaided and there is some movement in my left arm and leg. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to stand. I have to thank Daniel for his expertise and support."
